    Penny/Matt - I should have 4 picks in the 6th round, not 3. Correct?

    4th Round - 1 Pick
    5th Round - 1 Pick
    6th Round - 4 Picks

Correct. Sorry. Fixed it now so that you have 4 picks in the 6th round.

    COANGELO pretty funny!
A-lot of value still out there in this draft. I wish I had more picks.

Nice Fung Wa. Junior Fernandez is my helium pick for the year. I took him in another dynasty, so I diversified with Senzatela. I'm probably going to wish I picked Junior.

Was my proposal concrete enough to allow for a vote. Do I have to find other players who support having a vote on this?

    Ha, Gilbert Lara got picked.

I really didn't want to drop him, but I needed to at least have two picks this draft.

I want to pick more, but there wasn't a lot of fat to cut off my minor league roster. I guess I could have called up Baez, but I didn't want to do that either if he starts in AAA or is just a bench/utility guy to start the season.

Thank you. I just figure its easier mid-draft.

Here's my pitch. I think keeping it to 12 is a benefit to 1-3 managers who do really well every year by trading picks, knowing they can still get top end talent in the sixth round.

Increasing the roster helps the rest of us. Vote Yes to "15 instead of 12".

I want to make it clear. I mean no disrespect to those players. I in fact have tried to learn from you. My natural instinct is to hoard high draft picks though. Lol.

Yeah It was a toss up between Junior and Domingo Acevedo but the hitmen made it easy for me!

If you look back through the archives the entire draft is a crap shoot. You guys are putting a lot stock into foreign signees this year and that's really taking a shot in the dark. Not naming names but one of the guys (actually 2) selected in the first round weren't even in my 50. In fact this whole draft has been for space cadets as far as I'm concerned, I wish I'd have dropped another player. I'm not trying to say I know any better cuz I'm sure many of you hate my draft. I didn't get into the draft until the 4th round last year and ended up with positive early returns on 5 of my 6 selections. Just saying, you can study all day but in reality no one knows jack shit.

I drafted Candelerio years ago only to drop him, now he gets drafted again and probably still won't amount to a viable fantasy contributor. I once drafted Kepler too, it's funny stuff.

So my point is, I don't want more players to draft because I hate seeing Gregory Polanco's name every time I search the free agents, lol. Seriously though, it's annoying, Chad Bettis was owned?! Who knew?

John Sickels prospect book is out today in PDF. He's had some health and family problems the last few years which have slowed down the production of his book. He may not continue the series next year. It's a good resource. You can get a print copy shipped to you, but you can also get a PDF copy immediately by return email. As far as I can tell all of the picks in our SSD draft have been listed in John's book, together with a scouting report and grade. I recommend this book and would hope that enough people buy it this year even though it is out late, to permit John to continue the series next year.

For example, here's the writeup on Slider's last pick, Isan Diaz in the Sickels book (I removed the stats from this summary because they didn't copy paste into a legible format):

    "Isan Diaz, SS-2B, Milwaukee Brewers
    Bats: L Throws: R
    HT: 5-10 WT: 185 DOB: May 27, 1996

Isan Diaz was born in Puerto Rico but attended high school in Springfield, Massachusetts. Drafted by Arizona in the supplemental second round in 2014, he struggled in his rookie ball debut but followed up with an outstanding 2015 season in the Pioneer League, winning the circuit MVP award. He is with Milwaukee now, traded on January 30th 2016 in the Jean Segura/Aaron Hill transaction. Diaz isnt a big guy but he is strong for his size and demonstrated excellent bat speed last summer. He can be prone to strikeouts but will take his walks too and should produce both OBP and at least moderate SLG as he moves up, more power than typical for a middle infielder anyway. Mainly a shortstop to this point, he is a competent defender but his tools will likely fit best at second base in the long run. Pioneer League observers were quite impressed with him and believe hell continue to hit at higher levels. Grade B, with more possible once we see him in full-season ball."

    Nice pick Slider!

Agreed, nice pick Slider. I disagree Matt, but we can agree to disagree. If we you don't want to have to sort through players, we can always switch to fantrax. It eliminates that problem. It is a much better platform than Yahoo.

Thanks Penny! I use Sickel's website as one of my resources. I don't have his book this year because it was too late as you note. Rustbelters' pick of Faria was my other consideration. Faria should have gone earlier in this draft imo, but Isan was too good here, and I was really surprised I got him here honestly.

Most MiLB resources are becoming fairly standardized imo, which is still helpful but doesn't give me an edge. I doubled-down on international guys this year where I thought there was more efficiencies outside the traditional MiLB resources. Most MiLB resources treat international signees as 'less than' USA/Canadian products and usually post separate lists (if at all) on the intl guys. Abreu, Sano, Correa, Kang provide evidence that intl guys can certainly hang in the MLB. And, Japan has been a constant provider of MLB talent for years (and has one of the most talented young players I have ever seen still over there). MLB has a problem right now with how they handle intl signees imo, and should move towards a draft. Anyways, this past year has seen MLB teams dropping huge amounts of dough on intl guys (with some teams going way over their intl budgets). I followed the 2015 MLB intl money on some of my picks this year, rather than draft lists! Money talks.

This is no Sickels, no scouting reports just numbers. But it is a compilation of all prospect rankings, in a nice tidy spread sheet. I'm done drafting so...

Thanks everyone. The draft is complete. 85 picks, 7 days. Not as quick as last year (5 days), but much faster than the 10 day average we seemed to be hitting before that.
