I drafted last night in a league with friends. I'm pretty confident I could pull off some trades since we all personally know each other, so feel free to throw out some ideas and tell me areas to improve.

    It's a 10-team, 30-man league. Basic 5x5, H2H

    C Iván Rodríguez
    1B David Ortiz
    2B Brian Roberts
    3B Miguel Cabrera
    SS J.J. Hardy
    IF Chone Figgins
    LF Manny Ramírez
    CF Ichiro Suzuki
    RF Shane Victorino
    OF Jason Bay
    Util Carlos Peña
    Util Jim Thome
    Util Joey Votto
    BN Josh Fields
    BN Michael Bourn
    BN Jack Cust
    BN Corey Patterson
    BN Ryan Theriot

    SP Félix Hernández
    SP Tim Lincecum
    SP James Shields
    SP Ted Lilly
    SP Dustin McGowan
    RP Joba Chamberlain
    RP Jonathan Broxton
    RP Rafael Betancourt
    P George Sherrill
    P Pat Neshek
    P Hideki Okajima
    BN Franklin Morales

I know I only have 6 starters, but I'm perfectly fine by that. There was only crap left around the 20th round anyway, so I decided to go with some bench position players. Closers went crazy quick too, so I stocked up on the MRs. Think I should try to unload a couple for another starter?

In a non-keeper league I'm not sure how much value Votto has, so I'd think about moving him and Cust (unless, as I've been told, BA doesn't mean much in H2H). Shoot, I'd try to move the riot and patterson if you can get any value for them.

On the pitching tip, I think you're fine with MR over SP, at least a fourth/fifth/sixth starter. Although, I bet King Felix has much name value and I'm not sure how much return you'll get on your draft investment, so he's someone I'd think about moving. I'm sure you can trade him for a couple of good solid pitchers, or package him with your bench excess to get a really good pitcher and maybe a third or second tier closer and another bat [catcher maybe]. That's what I'd be looking at, anyway.

Let me say, however, that I've never played H2H, so that might mean that I'm talking out the side of my neck.

Not at all dude! Sound advice, thanks for the reply. I'll be looking at our lineups all week at possibilities, so thanks for the suggestions!

I'd try and upgrade on Pudge. I live 45min from Detroit and I still hate his ass. Think about moving speed (since you have a ton) for an upgrade at catcher. Remember, in H2H the key is to come away with the best player....especially if youre giving up bench guys. If you can package one of your solid bench players to upgrade your backstop, you'd end up on top.

If nothing else, drop your least favorite reserve for a sleeper catcher....there's gotta be a decent sleeper backstop or 2 left. Ive seen Snyder, Suzuki, and Doumit go extremely late in drafts.

I just took him because I was satisfied with a near-guaranteed 50/10/60/.270 at the C spot. There wasn't anything left at all.

The only bench catchers worth a look at that are available are Doumit, Torrealba, and Navarro. Mehhh... don't know if any of those are an upgrade over Pudge.

This was a very strange draft since a few of the guys thought they did their "research" and ended up taking a ton of young, high-upside guys too early. So by the time I got what I wanted, there was absolutely nothing left.
