Not to sound pushy, but can we open up FA pick-ups as soon as possible? Ive got at least one open roster slot (since Neshek just got officially placed on the 60day DL) and one more if/when Edwar Ramirez elects surgery. Im going to be out of the country from March 7-12 (Toronto for the WBC) and I dont want to miss out on my right to a couple selections.

I agree as well. I asked about this months ago cuz there are a few players I have in mind. When it is made available, I hope we all learn at the same time too...lol

Why wouldn't the waiver process just be open now?

Our rosters are set, we can't pick up guys that are on MiLB rosters, and I highly doubt anyone is in the yahoo system that we haven't drafted yet. We can just say that guys with no MLB time are off limits until after the draft maybe? We are like 200+ prospects in though, I doubt anyone is on the WW that has no time in.

Right, but up until now we havent been able to pick people up. Now that we can, I think we need an "official go-time" so that there's no confusion and everyone gets a fair shot. I know, personally, there's a couple guys that Im looking at to fill my last slot and I dont think itd be fair if someone already has a waiver bid in and Im sitting on my haunches waiting on the go-ahead from the commishes.

So let me get this straight: you said wanted to get signed up with yahoo--before everyone even paid even though that was established as the baseline--so it could help you with your draft and get you access to the draft kits. Done. You asked for it and then you got it.

But now the issue is that the waiver wire isn't open soon enough?

Don't get me wrong, I understand where the Dutchmen are coming from since they will be on the road, and being on the road myself, i understand how frustrating it can be to find the time or resources you are used to at home.

That said, Opening Day is more than a month away. What possible reason could there be for a rush to open up the waiver wire? You ask the question of "why wouldn't it be open" and I want to know "why it should be?"

Is there really anything you can do today, in regards to the waiver process, that you can't do two weeks from now? I can't speak for my fellow commishii on this, but if it were up to me, I wouldn't have signed up with Yahoo yet in order to avoid hearing about this very issue. I would have waited until the draft was over and then I would have signed us up. Because I believe in getting one thing done before moving on to the next. That's just me.

Everybody wants the information and everybody wants it to be right, but nobody does the work except for Chris, Ray and I. The one thing every member of league is suppose to do is maintain their roster page and that simply isn't happening enough. In order to provide the intital "selected player" page, Ray had to chase down every trade that involved MiLB players, since owners didn't maintain their roster pages, and I had to do the same to compile the actual draft order.

I think, once again not speaking for my fellow commishii, that it makes sense to get everything locked down tight--to make sure the draft is over and verified, to make sure that all rosters are correct, to make sure that all administrative needs are met before moving on to the next step. And I would hope you wouldn't find it too difficult to afford us that luxury, especially since time is not an issue.

Well, can you keep all of the players on waivers until a certain date?

If that is the case, then I am all for waiting.

IF on the other hand, everyone becomes FA and it becomes a free for all and the first one to the wirer, then the Waiver order loses it's meaning so we might as well proceed forward with claims.

So, can you keep all players on waivers for two weeks? If so, then let's wait. If not, then you may as well let the regular process ensue.

Who we get on waivers is also of vital importance. If I get certain guys that already have service time in and ARE NOT on rosters, it may have changed my entire minor league draft. So, on that issue, I respectfully disagree. As long as we don't pick up minor league owned guys, OR guys with no service time in, this really shouldn't be an issue at all.

Okay, here is the deal. Since the settings didn't copy right from last years Yahoo to this years Yahoo, I'va had to manually change everything. As it turns out, I missed something, and something pretty important I feel. Now I have to have Yahoo fix it, and they need every player benched, no pending waivers, etc. and they want everything locked until they can fix our settings, or risk the league being corrupted. Once that is done, we can revisit this issue.

I will say, when we do open add/drops, all players will be placed on Waivers for 2 days. You can make your waiver claims then, and pickup whoever your little hearts desire, sans the protected players. Once that is over, FA are free to grab.

I will echo E's sentiment on this, however I think we can be flexible with the actual start date. I think some FA/Waiver pickups as the Spring moves along is fine. Our draft is almost over, and I don't see why we can't add/drop when that happens. Maybe next week. Maybe 2 weeks from now.

    Justin,

I am sure you can find a computer with internet while on your vacation. You are not going to Siberia are you? Maybe at your Hotel, maybe on your phone, maybe at an intenet cafe? If not, I am sorry. Maybe you can have a friend help you out over the period you are away? You can text them, or call them to make any moves you want. I know I do that when my internet access is limited. You can always call or text me, and I'll try to help you out. But as of today, we can't allow Adds. I hope the draft is over by the end of the weekend, and hopefully Yahoo can take care of the settings issue by then too. After all of that is done, maybe we can open everything up next week! No promises though.

As always, feel free to contact a Commish if you have any questions.

    Jesus.

I didnt mean to step on anyone's toes, belittle the work you guys put in, or start a pissing match. I could care less if the wire gets opened up tomorrow or 3 days before Opening Day (which makes the most sense to me, actually)...I was just scared that the decision was going to be made, waiver process start, and end all within the week interval that I was gone, and be left with my dick in my hand. As long as there's a little bit of a lead-time on the decision I'll be fine -- I can find a computer in between lapdances as long as I know that the wire is open. I also wanted to open up a dialogue since the website shows that the waiver process is already in progress....and I didnt want there to be a handful of people already picking up guys while the wire isnt 'officially open' yet.

Im sure I speak for everyone when I say that I understand and appreciate all the effort commishes are putting in. That being said, I doubt anyone is secretly sitting at their computer deviantly finding ways to make more work for you guys. If there's a request or complaint that would cause unneeded effort, simply let us know without jumping down throats.

Sorry if I made you feel like I was jumping down your throat Justin, I didn't intend that. I was just trying to communicate with the league on what needed to be done... I love you

Okay, here is the deal. We are going to use Justin's idea on the one round waiver draft. I will be using the random waiver generator like our rules state will be done for waiver priority from year to year, and will post the outcome when it is done. I am pretty sure you will get the Auto email from it too.

Once that is done, we will schedule a start date. You do not have to pick someone. Your pick will be considered using your waiver. If you don't pick, you don't lose your waiver spot. Once that is done, waivers will be adjusted, and free agents will open. We are essentially done with everything, and are just waiting for Baseball to actually start! Be on the lookout for the waiver claim draft date. Let E, Ray, and Me come up with a date though. Thanks!
