More MiLB Drafting?
Just threw the idea out there of possibly adding 6 more rounds to the current MiLB draft. What are your thoughts on doing this?

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
I'm all for it!
We could keep future drafts at 6 rounds, but so we can flesh out a full MiLB 12-man roster, why not draft all 12 rounds?

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
I was going to make the same suggestion a couple days ago. In a dynasty draft, a 6 round minor league draft doesnt really make sense. Too many good players are left out. I dont know if 12 is too long but it is def better than 6.

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
Sure, why not?
Although it concerns me (slightly) how it could have affected past trades if more picks are now going to be involved... Not a big deal though, obviously.

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
Its a crazy proposition given the fact that we dont have options. Dont get me wrong, I'll draft for 20 more rounds, but I just dont see the upside without the flexibilty.......
options in '08.........

Can we possibly include college players for the next six rounds?

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
No college players.
Players must be under contract with a MLB team, but have ZERO MLB experience.

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
I say we hold ff on this. I thought we discussed not to change any rules now, and to make any changes in the off season. If we do change this, I say we throw the adding ptions to our minor leaguers too. Just my 2 cents

I voted no just because I don't really feel like digging that deep for so-so talent...don't feel that strongly about it, however...

I definitely understand the point, but our point is this isn't so much a change, as it is an extension of something we're already doing.
Rather than carry 6 empty minors roster spots, we're instead filling them with players.
But let's let everyone weigh in. We've got time before we hit the end of these 6 rounds...

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
I wouldnt necessarily advocate drafting 6 more rounds, but i think 3 or 4 more would be worthwhile. Like Oscar said, there'll be a lot more talent around after the first 6. 12 rounds may get a little tedious, though. I like the idea of drafting 10 or so, and leaving 2 slots open.....and having the option to add a couple guys through trades or so.

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
We only have 12 MiLB spots, so to draft more than six now severely impacts next year's MiLB draft and will force people to cut guys they already drafted. Which would make keeping track of the farm system a nightmare.
Also, I have already spent my draft picks with the knowledge that we were only going to draft six. To change this during the draft makes absolutely no sense.
Why change things up at this juncture?

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
I don't think we should add anymore. Like Pegleg said, people have planned everything around drafting 6 rounds.

This was just to gauge interest.
No plans were being made.

Re: More MiLB Drafting?
At this point, I don't think enough people are on board.
This wasn't an official vote, just to gauge interest.
Therefore, I'd say no, it's not going to happen.
