the champ snaked michael taylor from me, and then i had to text him while driving and after consulting my draft stuff (also while driving) and have him make my pick for me. So, on one hand I was thankful for his assistance and on the other, I was pissed (and on an oklahoma turnpike, to boot) that he got the guy I had already lined up.

He wouldnt have lasted until the 6th. I was all set to take him with the 15th pick of this round.

I was gonna take Todd Frazier until I took 1 last look at the taken list and was dumbfounded to find him gone, last yea'rs draft I guess.

I really wanted Adys Portillo. I was back and forth about 5 times on whether to take Portillo or Jairo Heredia...and was really hoping I could have both.

I had him on my list too, but my rotation is pretty old and I don't think I could wait on him with Halladay, Harang, Zambrano, Oswalt, Wang, The Unit, and no other pitching prospects yet.

Ya, I already went really young with Teheran, and I didnt want to go even younger yet. Heredia is still a LUIS, but he's about 2.5 years older than Portillo.

My very first post ever was the dreaded bench coach variety and instead of tactfully explaining the rules, he ripped me a new one. I almost never went back there. I figured if that was how people acted, I would just find someplace else to post.

On a side note (more related to this thread).....my next 3 targets were seriously, in order:

Adys Portillo
Brad Holt
Brian Bogusevic

...and all 3 just went off the board in succession. How does that happen 11 rounds into a MiLB draft?

It must have been erased. It was when somebody had just come up from the minors. IT was my very first post where I asked, "Should I drop so-and-so for him" and Gonzo proceeded to rip me a new one. The mods must have taken all the comments down from the exchange. Notice that it was a week before I came back in.

I almost didn't join this league when I heard that he was in here but I was given assurances from Yawkey and MT that he only had limited commish powers. I would never join one where he was the sole commish.

I wasn't sure I wanted a pitcher that young, but I figure the ceiling is worth the risk. Plus hopefully he makes it up in the Pads system and gets an opportunity to pitch at Petco.
